Nokia 3310 – The Return Of The Rugged King

Nokia 3310 – A Blast From The Past

Yes, can we remember the rugged, dominant and popular Nokia 3310, the smartphone just took a blast from the past in a refined format. Here, we have the all new Nokia 3310 phone.

Nokia’s alignment with HMD Global, a Finnish Company that constitutes majorly of workers from the then Nokia has seen the resurgence or better still the resurrection of the mighty rugged phone.

Nonetheless, most of us thought the Nokia brand has forever gone into extinction following its separation from Microsoft. Well, that’s now a story of the past.

Let’s take a stroll down memory lane. At the time when the phone was in its prime, I mean the early 2000s, any person using the phone do feel like the iPhone users of our time. As in, the phone made the users belong to the elite of the society.

Fast forward to this present day, technological advancement has seen the likes of iPhones and Android-powered smartphones take over the scene.

Without further digression, let’s look closely at the device’s core specs

Design & Display

nokia 3310

In its design, the phone looks just like the former version. However, this renewed version sports a camera at its rear which was absent in the former version.

Rounded edges although not fully rounded, the keyboard availed to the smartphone is the traditional T9 keyboard. Just like the predecessor, the phone is really large with a 12.8 mm thickness.

Replacing the ‘big-mouth’ charging port, the device uses a micro USB port that functions as its charging port and the portal for files transfer.

Crafted in plastic body material, the phone is available in Yellow, Grey, Warm Red and Dark Blue colors. It is worthy of note that the Grey and Dark Blue variants have matte finish.

The display on the device is a 2.4-inch TFT display that upholds the 240 x 320 pixels resolution. This reminds me of the games downloaded then that either had the 176 x 224 suffix or the 240 x 320 suffix. Well, the 240 x 320 pixels do have the best of quality, however, those games were on Java platforms. Clarity on the device is dictated by 167 PPI pixel density.

The 2 megapixel camera donned by the device is one that really draws attention. Asking for more definitely implies you’re an Oliver Twist. Even at that, the device utilizes a LED flash for illumination effects. Nonetheless, front camera comes with the device.

Software & Storage

If you’ve observed keenly, I didn’t refer to the Nokia 3310 as a smartphone, that’s because it isn’t actually one. It sports the Nokia series 30+ software, and not the pre-conceived Android OS.

The internal storage on the device has a limit of 16 MB. Anyways, all hope is not lost as there is a MicroSD card slot to accommodate a MicroSD card of 32 GB.

The device uses a Li-Ion 1.2 Ah battery. Just like the predecessor, the device’s battery is removable and replaceable.
