Tecno Camon 12 Air have followed in the path of Samsung to name their variant smartphone Air. Now, the Camon 12 Air comes with some noticeable selling points; affordable than the Camon 12 & Camon 12 Pro and it’s the first Tecno device on the market to feature a punch-hole display.
And surprisingly – a better display! Yes, you read it right.
If there’s a cost efficient smartphone award of 2019, this phone will easily win it, Overall, it comes with the bare basic essentials of a mid-entry device. Indeed, it has a better resolution than the Camon 12 & 12 Pro.
Lowkey this smartphone is killing it, and for what it’s worth, you should keep an eye for the specifications below;

Features X Design X Display
Camon 12 Air is unlike any Tecno smartphone on the market. It comes with a display that eats 95% on the front, with just a small chin. The punch-hole camera is the only way Tecno could maximize the screen without creating a bezel which would significantly reduce the screen size.
It is made of plastic, allowing for a secure grip. Sure, it feels cheap in the hands but the features it holds say otherwise. Again, for the price you are paying for this device, it’s poised for the statement “eat your cake and have.”
Out of the box, it comes with a 6.55 inch display and a screen resolution of 720 x 1548 pixels. The pixel density has also improved from the 269 of camon 12 to 403 PPI. As i’ve mentioned, viewing experience is so much better due to the improved resolution and screen type.
Volume rockers and power button are placed on the side. Punch-hole front camera sits on the light top edge whilst the three cameras sit vertically on the back. The fingerprint scanner is also on the back and it’s positioned for easy unlocking. The charging port, speaker grills and headphone jack are below.
The device comes with a combo of 16MP + 2MP + 5MP on the rear, while the front features a 10MP camera.
Explaining the three camera setup and their functions; 16MP is the primary camera for AI scene recognitioin & AI HDR, 5MP is the secondary camera for super wide macro photography and the 2MP is for portrait bokeh effect. In all, the combination of the three cameras provides good quality pictures for a phone of its price.
Hardware X Software X Battery
The heavy lifting is done by an Octa-Core Mediatek Helio P22 Processor, with a processing speed of 2.0GHz which is pretty quick and fluid. Thanks to the 3GB RAM.
Internal storage has improved from the previous camon air models to 32GB and further extended to 256GB using a MicroSD card.
Coming to operating system, we had anticipated an Android 10, but tecno opted for the Android 9 pie. They however, used their latest Tecno HiOS 5.5 which is rather filled with bloats and I’d recommend using a different theme. But for a average user the customized OS will suffice.
4000mAh no be beans! I can’t help but wonder if Tecno are trying to make choosing a smartphone among their latest releases hard. Cause i never expecrerit. A whole day of use won’t hold the battery down.
