Design X Display X Features

In the words of MKBHD

“The OnePlus 7 pro is my phone of the year”

Well that’s the coup the grace in the tussle of the Game of Android throne between the Samsung galaxy S10 and Huawei P30.

In terms of design, nothing much has changed from the OnePlus 6T.  As thin as a screen gets there’s no notch around the screen even the bezels on the OnePlus 6T has been trimmed to a chin at the bottom.  Fingerprint scanner is integrated to the screen which means the smartphones look flat and great on the rear. According to many YouTube reviews, the fingerprint works effectively.

The 7 accommodates a 6.41 inch AMOLED display with improved screen pixels at 402 per inch. While the 7 Pro holds a 6.67-inches AMOLED display and a crispy 3120 x 1440 resolution.

OnePlus comes in different colors of mirror gray, Almond and Nebula blue. Under the hood is something you’d experience as it has a 90Hz refresh rate which is a fancy way of saying the screen is more responsive, fluid and fastest used on a smartphone device.

Camera & Battery Life

If there are any notable improvements you’ll sure notice an upgraded 48MP sensor paired with a 5MP shooter on the rear for amazing bokeh shots. Turning to the front, the 16MP camera is equipped with great features for the perfect selfies.

The OnePlus 7 Pro incorporated a gimmick feature to the front camera that makes it pop out of the top frame. It utilizes a motorized system, there are fears of the camera getting spoilt or breaking off from strong impact. However, Oneplus has laid those concerns to rest as there’s a smart feature that tucks the camera in when the camera is falling.

On the rear, there are three of the back of the OnePlus 7 Pro:

Main camera: 16MP | f/1.6 aperture| OIS | EIS

Telephoto Camera: 8MP | f/2.4 aperture | 3x zoom | OIS

Ultra-wide angle camera: 16MP | f/2.2 aperture | 117 degrees field of view

It is worth mentioning that the 7 Pro is the first OnePlus device with three cameras.

The Oneplus 7 pro battery does the heavy lifting with a 4000 mAh battery coupled with 30W warp charging that boost the battery to 50%  in 20 minutes. While the OnePlus 7 has a decent 3700 mAh battery and a 20W fast charging ability.

Hardware X Software

Sitting right at the heart of the Oneplus 7 and the pro is a Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 SoC which is extremely fast as it clocks a whooping 2.84GHz and the Adreno 640 GPU for crisp animation and graphics. In terms of storage, the Oneplus 7 and Pro comes in variants of 256 GB 8/12 GB RAM or 128GB 6GB RAM.

And yes it ships in with Oneplus Oxgygen OS 9.0 and Android 9.0 pie OS– in recent years the oxygen OS has consistently been the most fluid OS with less bloatwares and laggy navigation.

Oneplus 7 pricing is pitched around $699 while the 7 Pro is considerably cheaper at $599. However, you’ll have to shell out more cash for larger RAM sizes.

As of the time of writing this, these smartphones haven’t been unveiled in the country. When it does, we’d sure update the prices in Naira to show you just how much the flagship will dig into your wallet. Cheeers!
